What did the Argentine kid get for Christmas?

Teague's bike.

Yes, his little bike was stolen yesterday.

Sean and Teague spent the morning at the park, and eventually ended up at McDonald's, where Sean parked the bike inside the restaurant, directly in front of the McCoffee counter, but hidden behind a large chair. They ordered, got their drinks and headed back to get the bike less than 5 minutes later, and it was gone. There were two girls working right where the bike was, but neither saw a thing. He even checked with the manager to see if someone had moved it to another location.

I can't say I'm surprised. There are many extremely poor people in this city, and with the average hourly wage about 12-16 pesos per hour (roughly $4.00 USD per hour), the sight of an import bicycle probably means muchos pesos for them and probably plenty of chicken mcnuggets in their future. Funny, we had actually talked about getting him a new bike anyway, because he had almost outgrown the stolen bike.

Poor Mr. Teague was distraught, but Sean walked them straight to a cycle shop and purchased a shiny new bike. Sean was even thoughtful enough to purchase a gigantic purple horn for the bike. My ears thank him all the way to the park every afternoon.

I know karma will catch up with the little circus bike thief one day, but either way, we've learned a valuable lesson: McFlurries from McDonald's just aren't worth it.

So how will you keep the new bike safe? Chain it to your chairs with a combination lock?
That was pretty brazen to steal it right under your noses- a little boys bike! Very sad.

Teaguey, mi pobrecito! What a super dad, going straight to the bicycle store following the theft. The icing on the cake was the big purple horn! Ride on, Teague! xo Dodgie
