Tampa

Sean has been working on a project up in Tampa for a while now. It ended on Friday night and to celebrate, Teague and I drove up to meet him for the weekend. 

One of my dear friends lives in the area so we also got to spend Saturday with her family. We've been friends for almost 21 years, ever since our church youth group days, and it was amazing to finally meet her new daughter. This little girl, aside from being incredibly adorable, is the most easy going baby I've ever met! 

Though they're both large cities in Florida, it's surprising how different Tampa is from Miami. We always know we've left Miami when we see real cars at stoplights instead of Bentleys, Ferraris and Maseratis! As the drive continues, the billboards and store advertising changes from Spanish to English, too. It was fun to recognize some old high school haunts as we rolled into town, and to see the base again.

Tampa has a beautiful downtown area and a gigantic aquarium. We spent loads of time there catching up and looking at the beautiful fish. Their outdoor splash pad and shaded areas were pretty nice too. Teague did not want to leave.

On the way home, we stopped at Manatee Park in Ft Myers, hoping to spot one or two. Though we were about a month too late (apparently they like the warmer waters in the winter) there was plenty to keep us occupied, including black racer snakes, a huge playground and a nature trail.
