SoBe

Miami's iconic South Beach is known for its nightlife, foodie restaurants and beaches. Though we live close by, we tend to avoid it, especially evenings because so much of it is under construction that driving around there is a nightmare...and because we're party poopers. We do, however, love a good brunch in "SoBe".

The area is also known for its historic Art Deco buildings. The bright pastels and geometric ornamentations are stunning; Miami Beach has gone to great lengths to restore many of its buildings to their original design (hence the perpetual construction).

My favorite South Beach fixtures, aside from the throngs of rental car-driving tourists, are the William Lane-designed life guard stations. Each one is unique in color and shape. As you can see below, they come complete with hideous looking lifeguards.  They're so terrible looking, I had to take a closer look.
Ah, Miami!

Avert your eyes, he's a monster!

What's South Beach without a few flamingos?
