Recoleta is one of the trendier areas in town, with lots of sidewalk cafes and boutiques. The famous cemetary is also in Recoleta. We visited there once before, in very overcast, cold weather. Seeing it today was like stepping into a completely different place; from dark, cold and creepy to warm and peaceful. Amazing what a little sunshine will do.
I experienced my favorite and least favorite meals in Buenos Aires back to back, at lunch and dinner. Note to self, ordering a salad doesn't mean it will include lettuce. My "Cobb salad" today was a gigantic bowl of chopped unripened tomatoes, sliced hard-boiled eggs and a few pieces of cold pulled chicken. No salad in my salad.
Urns and coffins are kept inside these above ground mausoleums.
