More Colonia

The Lighthouse. Children under 8 cannot climb it, unfortunately.

Thrifty and Enterprise rent out golf carts here. The cost is about $US 40 for 24 hours. Nice to not have to walk, but it did give the place a slight retirement community feel.

The Portuguese influence can be seen throughout the town. The street signs and house numbers were on beautifully painted tiles.

Metal barrel swings at the deathtrap playground. They even had an american gladiator-style toddler jousting ring. Awesome.

Outdoor cafes.

An old trolley that Teague insisted on visiting 5 or 6 times during our stay, just to make sure it didn't leave town.

The 'fast' boat, the buquebus--which they pronounce "boo-key-boose." So melodic, these PorteƱo words.
