Book 'Em!

Evidence that Sean can read. Where's the Hunger Games trilogy?

To the right of Teague, two years worth of political science "textbooks" (they use photo copied books, but only copy 80%--darn copyright laws) and on his left, the books Sean used for his 500+ page dissertation, the short stack is books in English, the tall stack, in Espanol. Since bookstores here don't organize books by author, or, I don't know, have any way to locate a book, we literally combed through hundreds of book stalls at seedy book fairs to find each and every one of those books. Barnes and Noble would have been so much easier...but digging through dusty old books turned out to be sort of fun in a weird Hogwart's Library sort of way. If the Hogwart's librarian was toothless and dripping smelly food on everything.

I am so incredibly proud of Sean. He worked so hard to be selected as an Olmsted Scholar and to get our family to this fab location. He knew no Spanish before arriving in-country, and in a mere 6 months became completely fluent. He has completed his Doctoral coursework and will be finished with his dissertation very soon. A Doctorate in Political Science seems impressive enough to me, but the fact that it was done completely in Spanish just blows my mind. He kind of rocks.
