Highway to the Danger Zone

Big things happened in our household last weekend. Monumental, even.
Teague was finally introduced to one of the greatest films of all time.

Many moons ago, when Tom Cruise wasn't cuckoo for cocoa puffs and Val Kilmer had frosted tips, there was a flick called Top Gun. I can't speak for an entire generation, but I believe it to be one of the defining movies of the late 80s. This may be a biased opinion, because when it was released, my family lived on a Navy base. Either way, Jerry Bruckheimer had all of the great movie elements; romance, action, men in flight suits, a Righteous Brothers serenade and Meg Ryan.

Because there was some questionable content, Teague didn't see everything. We skipped some scenes along the way, namely the volleyball scene, because it was actually embarrassing to watch. Apparently single pilots with heavily coiffed hair, questionable outfits and completely free weekends have slo-mo volleyball montages for fun?

At any rate, the movie was fun to watch and Teague really enjoyed the flying scenes and the jets. I must admit that hearing the synthesized "anthem" at the start of the movie still gives me chills!

With all of the CGI and the bigger and better in today's movies, I don't think Top Gun will have the impact on Teague that it had on us, but introducing it to him was definitely the highlight of our weekend.

And now maybe he'll consider naming his stuffed penguin Ice...man.
Anyone else wait patiently for the end credits to see this shot?
Tween Mandy did.
