I wish I knew how to quit you, NYC! Visiting Manhattan really felt like we were back in a (much) cleaner version of BA. Who knew that living smack-dab in the center of a city with 3 million people would be our thing? It's intoxicating to walk around; there's just so much energy, and we miss it!
We had gorgeous weather during our visit, which made the city seem that much more magical. Sean and I have said for years that at some point we'd like to live in NYC. So it has now become our empty nester plan; to spend at least a year in Manhattan. If we both work really hard, we can maybe afford a studio apartment! This is where Teague's slumlord experience could really become useful.
Day one in NYC started off with a bit of excitement. While walking to the ticket booth, we crossed a street which had a bike path next to it. As we waited to cross, Sean noticed an older gentleman riding his bike with a toddler in a kiddie seat on the back. It was Robert De Niro and his daughter! I was relieved and sort of stunned that Sean didn't yell any of De Niro's movie quotes as he rode past!
Afterward we visited the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum at the USS Intrepid. Seeing the gigantic aircraft carrier full of jets against the skyscraper backdrop of the city was pretty amazing! And then, as if that wasn't cool enough, the Enterprise space shuttle was also on display!
Later in the day, we introduced Teague to Times Square. The life sized cartoon characters walking around didn't fool him, which is good because I've never seen the matted fur version of Elmo at Toys R Us.
We also went to 30 Rockefeller Center, to Top of the Rock, for the panoramic city views. Then we spent way too much time in the NBC Experience store.
The rest of the day is really a blur of delicious meals, snacks and a subway ride or two!

Just noticed: it looks like Teague in the top, giant tv screen on the building behind Sean and Teague, just above the Bud Light ad!
Now you have me excited to go to NYC over Thanksgiving week. It's been 36 yrs since we've been back to Manhattan.In the 70's it wasn't at all like it is now. I love the photo of you all that Teague took.
Kim, 36 years is a long time! I can't even imagine how much things have changed since then. Even the Thanksgiving parade is completely different now! :)
If you have good weather, don't miss the High Line, it is really incredible!
